There are three levels of editing: proofreading, copyediting and developmental editing. Quotes are determined by what kind of editing you need, which will be determined by the sample that you submit. If you aren’t sure what kind of editing you need, no worries.
Proofreading is the process of checking for grammatical errors, punctuation and fact checking. This is done after you’ve completed your manuscript and are at the final stage (right before you publish).
Copyediting is the process of checking for tone, accuracy, character development, plot holes, clarity and structure. I recommend copy editing after you’ve gone through your first draft at least once. It saves you money in the long run.
Developmental Editing is done at the beginning stages. Perhaps you have an outline or a synopsis and need to discuss how to bring your story to life. This is when you get the structure and bare bones down, so you can write your story with confidence.
After you submit your sample chapter (up to five pages*), I’ll be able to assess your project and determine a quote and turnaround time. Select a time slot for your free edit when you go to the scheduling page. Submit Sample
